So the past few weeks in the Southeast it has been incredibly hot. At 10:00 am today it was already 97 here, forecast is for 105. But it's been so DRY, like under 50% humidity, that it's relatively pleasant. My brick Sat at 102F was enjoyable (or maybe it was mild delirium). I think the humidity (at least for me-- heavy sweater that i am) is what makes things so miserable. For my upcoming 1/2 this weekend, we're going to have a break in the heat, forecasted for 95ish, but with chances of t-storms, so we know what that means--accompanying humidity. So y'all tell me-- what's it like in your part of the country? Can you run in 100F+ with low humidity?

HI,

Sometimes from June through mid October our heat hovers in the mid to high 90s. We typically do a stretch in July and August where we're above100. The heat is dry. I don't run when it's above the mid 80s because our air quality is so bad. I do ride my bike when it's in the high 90s and low 100s, in spite of the air quality. I don't know why I'm okay with biking but not running. In the summer our air is typically in the "unhealthy for sensitive people" category. It's one of the most polluted air basins in the US. Very sad.

Hope your temps ease up. I've noticed the southeast has been hit hard this summer. It's one thing to grow up with it and be adapted to it, but another to just have it hit without warning. Hope your half goes well. Slow down and keep your fluid level steady!

Heat...cold and everything in between here in MN.

Lately we have had a run of little rain and temps in 85 to 95. Humidity ranging from 50 to 100%.

Basically, I melt in the heat. My pace slows to almost 10 minute mile but when it cools down to the 60's...bang 8:45 min/mile becomes no problem.

Then again when the temps get to -15 to -30 F w/ wind chills below -70, then I have problems there too, usually because my tissue turns to ice which doesn't bode well for breathing.

:)

Here's to a little adversity in your training regiment!

Greg
