My triathlon is coming up on sunday and I can't decide if I should wear a wetsuit on the swim or not. It has been quite hot here lately, and I have swam in the lake without a wetsuit pretty comfortbaly in the last few days - it's cold at first but fine once you get moving.

The problem is, the wetsuit I have is not a proper triathlon suit - it has short sleeves and I feel like they really restrict my stroke. So I don;t know if I should wear the suit for the added bouyancy, or just wear my bathing suit and bike shorts to be more comfortable.

I think the water temp is 18 degrees right now..is that too cold to go without the wetsuit!?

18 degrees!!!!! I live in SC, I train in the lake water here 3 times a week, but it has been between 72 and 80 degrees and I thought that was a little chilly! The coldest I have swam in without a wetsuit was 60 degrees. Personally, I would wear the wetsuit, but I'm a wimp and hate being cold.

Good luck.

I kind of thought that, but 65 degrees is still freezing to me. My fiance hates it because I think anything below 75 is too cold! He's from upstate New York and gets a kick out of me wearing sweats and gloves when we visit his family in June.
