Sometimes my resting pulse will be in the 30's. For me it is not a problem because i can cope with that. It's easier for me than when my haert rate is pushed to 80. Few months ago they tld me that i had an heart block and that i should downsize on my running. But i can't downsize because running makes me feel good. It's as if i'm another person than the one in the office. How can i train effectively without increasing the problem with my heart. I need help with my training because i have a goal that i want to break. Can you help me with the training.

I wish I had seen your post 6.7 months ago.... A heart block is a very serious condition that needs to be monitored by a cardiologist. If your cardiologist told you to stop running, I would advise you stop running lest you find yourself in the grave... And this advise is coming from the marathon running critical care nurse here... Sorry the news probably isn't what you want to hear, but cardiologists don't spend ten years in medical training to give out bad advise to their patients. You should heed his/her warning. :-/ Don't hurt yourself for a sport, it's just not worth it.

I have never heard of a RP in the 30's. I dream of getting mine in the upper 50's again. What does downsize your running mean? I would heed the advice given above. Listen to your doctor. What good is a PR if you die of a heart attack doing it?

I'm with all the other replies here. Talk with your doctor, and find a way to work WITH him to get physical exercise in some way. Working AGAINST him is foolish. To me, the ultimate purpose of running or any other sport is to be healthier. Being healthier then results in feeling better. There are many things we can do to make ourselves feel great, but many of them aren't in the best interests of our physical well-being. The end result is that we feel worse. Of course, if you are dead, you can't feel at all. Bottom line: don't go against your doctor.
