Hi all, count me in too. I'm rejoining my W.Watcher's class tomorrow evening so this works out perfectly.

12 week goal - 12 lbs weight loss

* if i bite it, gotta write it [seems to make me think twice before popping a piece of chocolate in my piehole]

* plan my menu for the week, track my flex points & exercise

* 30 minutes continuous walking everyday, gradually add weight/floor exercises or do exercise tapes 5 x a week.

* drink 32 ounces water during the day.

Overall goal to lose 45 lbs, improve my health by eating nutritious foods and adding exercise to my daily activities.

P.S. part of my eating/weight problem seems to be if i stop stuffing in my feelings, I feel really irritable - not sure how to deal with the feelings of aggravation. I find that almost everything seems to get on my nerves so I end up eating crunchy/salty foods to take the edge off. Any ideas? What works for you?

Hi Tracy,

I was in your shoes just one year ago. I'll be turning 30 on Thursday and I hadn't even attempted to run a mile since elementary school (I couldn't do it then without walking) and last spring the Lord put in my heart that I was going to run in Atlanta's Peachtree Roadrace this summer. I had given birth to my son about 8 months prior and hadn't been doing much exercise (and was about 50 pounds overweight). But I started with a run/walk program and could only jog for one or two minutes before having to walk. I gradually began jogging longer and longer and just last week completed the Peachtree Roadrace without walking at all! It's a 10K which is 6.2 miles, so needless to say, I was thrilled! I'm now starting to train for a half-marathon because like you, it helps me to have a goal besides just weight loss. A mile is a good goal to start with, and I think you'll be surprised how good it feels once you're able to run it! During most of my training for the 10K, I just jogged slowly because my main goal was to finish the race without walking. One of the best things to come out of me taking up running is that my four-year-old daughter wants to run in a race "when she gets big".

I wish you the best in your endeavor and will be praying for you!

Hello Everyone,

Enjoyed reading through everyone's goals. I have been back on track fro a coouple of months and have been feeling much better than when I let things lapse.

Barb-- a suggestion for the crunchy/salty food issue-- a couple of years ago I started eating celery dipped in salsa. That has really helped me with the chip cravings. Most any veggie is great dipped in salsa.

Mitch-- I like your long term goal. I try to constantly remind myself that the choices I make are not just to lose weight-- they are life long choices.

12 Week Goals

Lose 7 pounds and maintain my preferred weight once it is achieved.

Make healthy food choices at least 80% of the time when I am completely stressed out of my mind.

Exercise 6 days a week alternating hard and easy days with workouts lasting from 60-90 minutes.

Swim at least once a week.

Gradually rehab the knee- so that by Oct. I can run a half marathon.

Maintain my fitness program through the fall when work is most likely to derail it.

Participate in the Swim the English Channel program at my gym in August... and complete it!

Best wishes for healthy days to everyone--

Terri

Hi all, happy "WATER wednesday" to you all. Rejoined my W.Watcher's class last night. Don't know what happened but the class was twice the size since I'd last attended.

Bought some program foods and plan to do my menu up for the week tonight. I am also a member of another sight which tracks your food intake. Even though I've planned [and so far]eaten nutritiously my food intake estimated for the day is approx 1700 calories so I guess I will have to re-visit what I'm eating and/or increase my exercise if I want to lose weight.

Slept in so didn't get my 1/2 hour walk with my doggie this morning so am aiming for tomorrow.

Hey there's another thing I wanted to share with you. I'm in Ottawa the lovely nation's capital of Canada and in my neighbourhood there are all these flyers which say: "Don't hold back". It keeps popping up in the back of my mind cause I think, at least in my case, I am afraid of success so I tend to sabotage my efforts from time to time. Anyways, to all of you - Decide, Commit and SUCCEED!!! have a great evening - see ya'll tomorrow. barbyk.

P.S. there was an e-mail from a gal [2 wks ago] asking about the formation of a weight loss group. is this the group or has another separate one been formed? Anybody know?

Hey there Teri, thanks for the tip about salty crunchy food. I bought some celery last night and have some salsa in the fridge will definitely try it out.

p.s. the old barb [when she was a w.watcher leader] use to partially freeze a pumpernickel bagel, slice it super thin, coat it with a non-stick spray and then sprinkle onion powder [or whatever spice you like] on the bagel. Then pop it in the oven [around 250 degrees] till it crisps up. Then you take it out of the over and "voila - bagel chips]. it's kind of a lot of work but worth it cause it fills a whole cookie sheet. enjoy. barbyk.

Hi All! Barb I wish I had your enthusiasm. I do WW on line, so far it's helped but I got side tracked the last 2 months but I'm back @ it again. Yesterday and today I walked 3 miles each day. Today was horrible, the temp is 89 degrees with humidty of 100%, but I need to stick with it because it will be this way for another 2 months or so.

Hi all, marilyn "hidy ho" neighbour! Glad to see you on board. Hang in there it will get easier. My problem is that I go like gangbusters. The last time when I decided to walk i thought it would be a good idea to walk to and fro to work. [5kms each way]. needless to say I got severe shinsplints and threw in the towel all together. I think I need one of those beds that lifts up and throws you out so I can get my little butt [not] in gear to start taking my doggie for a 1/2 walk in the am. Stayed tuned all, i WILL be getting up soon.

Tomorrow is the target date!!!

I did, on the weekend take the doggie for a 1/2 hour stroll. This is not an excuse but sad reality in my case, my dh and I are renovating/large addition to our house so it always seems like strolls/walks take a back seat to whatever help I can offer my husband with this project.

Hey I had a small victory last night.DH had popped off to bed and there was this bag of salted peanuts [one of my fave pig out foods] sitting on the coffee table saying "munch on me!!!", the thought popped into my head that "nobody would ever know" but I managed to resist. YAY for me. I think it's all about choices, small victories that I need to keep track of in my "rahrah"/journal folder that will "keep me honest". Anyways, gotta dash all, and remember, "If you bite it, you gotta write it" [all of my extensive research on successful losers ALWAYS indcates that the people who lose weight and keep it off, mark down whatever they eat to see what foods/menus cause them to "get off track/gain weight". happy tracking of those calories!. ps.my food intake for the day is at 1495, down from 1700 yesterday woohoo!!! barbyk.

Hello!

Glad to feel all the enthusiastic vibes here. Had a good run this morning.

Marilyn- congrats to you for toughing out that humidity! Ugh. We stay between 100-110 from July through Aug. out here in the central valley of CA, but I'd take that over the kind of humidity you have any day. The heat here is very dry.

Clare-good luck with your triathlon training. You sound like you hav overcome some pretty big challenges. What a victory it will be for you to finish your events.

Barb- hot dog on passing up those peanuts. I find that sometimes it is what I don't do that makes the biggest difference!

Happy Thursday--

Terri

Hi everyone. I'm new to FJ. I'd like to join the 12 week plan. It's nice to see all kinds of people with all kinds of goals. I'm planning on celebrating all goals large and small.

Goals I achieved this week are 2 pounds down and ran the longest distant I've ever run. (8 miles)

********************************************

My goals for the next 12 weeks are as follows:

1) Finish the Twin Cities Marathon

** I plan to do this by following the Non-Runners Marathon Guide a 16 week marathon training guide. I start week 6 on Monday.

2) Lose 15 - 20 Pounds. I would like to lose the weight and hope that I will with all of the time I'll be spending in my sneakers.

**I'm going to try to focus more on running and less on what the scale says.

Looking forward the checking in with all of you for the next 11 weeks.

Here's to achieving goals!

Cheers

~Kelly

Kelly welcome! WOW you are very energetic to say the least. Good luck in the Twin Cities Marathon. Let us know how you do. Same with Clare, I've never done a marathon or triathlon so I am very impressed by those who do! Barb, great job on leaving the peanuts alone. I know how hard it is to turn away from something you love, but for me it helps keeping a food diary so I know how many points I've eaten during the day and how many points I have left (if any) at the end of the day. It also helps me to walk every day, so if something does tempt me during the day, I think about my walk and how I don't want to throw it all away by eating something I don't need. Everyone keep up the great work and have a great and safe week-end.
