Get a road bike. They are lighter, faster, easier which is good for longer distance tri's. Even if it is a second hand job. |

I have a road bike with tri-bars and would recommend that. You can go for a time trial or triathlon specific bike but it will cost you a lot more. |

Either one is pretty good. Just check components and ask to test ride them before making a decision. |

Clare, My husband and I both have Specialized. We love them!!! For our first Tri we had a compfort series bike by Trek and then when we got our new bikes we were hooked and our time improved a lot!!! I do recomend the Specialized because that is what I have experience with, but Jim is definitely right, you must take them for a test ride. Good luck... Tammie |
