Chris,
You are so in tune and responsive that I just want to give you kudos (as I am sure many others will to) for running and maintaining such a great site.
Now, I must go and finish my Total Raisin Bran cereal with wheat toast on the side.

Hi Jaime,
I have lived in Arkansas now for most of my adult life after being born and raised a Kentucky boy. Yeah, right now it is getting hot. I ran my track workout yesterday and the bank temp said 101 F. Obviously, I needed to run later that night, but needed to get it in. The heat zapped me pretty hard. I lost about 1-1.5 minutes per mile because of the heat.
If Beverly is lurking, yes, Bev, I did get up this morning (5:30AM) and walked 2 miles. I felt exhausted and cut my 6 mile walk short because of the heat zapping I took yesterday. I am done with mid afternoon runs until fall. Staying hydrated is going to a full time job for me this summer. Hydration DOES cause fatigue and I hate it.

Yep Chansonette. That is 3:30AM your time. Yikes..... That is early. But that is the coolest time of day here in the summer is right before sunrise if you call 75 F cool. No other alternative outdoors though. Have thought of using the gym in the summer, but not as fun. |

Oh honey, 3:30 my time!!! oh noooooo! Let's see, what was I doing at 3:30 my time? hmmmmmm..... :). Actually I've been having some semi-insomniac nights the last few nights so I was probably awake. But not UP! And yeah, I feel ya on the gym thing. I know people love their treadmills but when I run I like to be outside on the road covering distance. |

John,
You will find over time that you will not elevate your HR as quickly walking up those elevated hills. I am in the 6th week of training and I cannot walk and move my HR past 70%. Before I could sneeze and jump the HR to 70%. I am having to jog now to get in the 70-80% zone. Glad to see you moving to some outdoor training. I find the pavement a little tougher than a treadmill.

Hey folks, i didn't get up and out at 5:00 a.m. (perish the thought!) but uncharacteristically for me when I woke up at 7:30, instead of saying "nuUH! i'ts SATURDAY, I'm sleeping IN!" I got up, did my hour meditation, got the dog and hit the road for a 90-minute hills walk -- we have great hills here in Berkeley. Definitely got my heart rate up. Nice way to start the day.
keep on truckin' and have fun this weekend!
