Got dumped by my horse, could have been worse, but I have broken nose, broken wrist and broken L-3 tranverse spinal process. The latter injury means painful doing almost anything and it has now been 6 days without exercise other than short distances at a very slow and measured walk. Would love suggestions from others who have come back from similar injuries as well as any time lines you might have.

Hi Seema -

Sorry to hear about that, I have done only a little riding, and of course this is always a risk. I wish you a speedy recovery.

The broken nose and wrist should be no problem. As for the wrist, once you are ready it is a good idea to start gradually increasing mobility and exercising it.

I have never had a spinal injury, but it sounds to me like you should get a professional opinion. Push for consulatations on what you can do to speed your recovery and get more than one opinion. Lots of luck!!

Hey Seema - like Jim I have no clue about a spinal injury but just wanted to pass on a trans Atlantic get well message of support!

It will probably be a few weeks before you can but get into water (even a jacuzzi) when you are able - its so good for recovery of mind, body and spirit.

Also - try and be patient with yourself...

Seema! Sorry to hear about the dumping! Are you feeling any better yet? I know, it's only 6 days since you wrote but we've all got high hopes of a quick recovery for you. I was thrown once and it seemed to happen so fast and yet in slow motion all at the same time (thankfully no real injuries since I've got a hard head!). Rest, heal and come back gradually! You'll be back in the saddle soon, just probably not as fast as you want. What kind of horse do you have?

3 weeks post fall and I am feeling much better. I can walk normally and will start logging walking workouts today. Don't think I can run yet, but will try elliptical soon. Extra stress as I am in Michigan with my dad who is still in ICU following emergent triple bypass on Wednesday
