Today is rather a reflective day. I’ve spent it thus far writing Christmas cards (very late for me) and reviewing some photos while enjoying my coffee. It’s quiet in the house, peaceful; everyone is sleeping but me. The weather is bright and crisp outside--the high is 13F! It is good to take a few moments now and then to be cozy and to reflect upon the past, be it the past year, week or lifetime. Perhaps next week I will focus on the future but for now I am grateful for this time. All of this, of course, is spurred on by the Holiday and the end of another year. So for you dear ones, I wish you the same time of peaceful reflection, of love, family and good health. And to all who celebrate this awe-inspiring time of year…Merry Christmas. Happy holidays to the rest.
Now tell us about your week~

Last week was a very good week. Was on the elliptical 6 out of 7 days along with some stationary biking and walking on the treadmill. Been tracking my food and have been right where I want to be even with a graduation party on Friday!
This week is gonna be tough with the holidays. I have get togethers with family members Wednesday through Saturday. Finding the time to get on the elliptical will be challenging. But, I LOVE A CHALLENGE!!! :D
Goals this week:
1) Get on the elliptical a minimum of 4x
2) Water, water, water
3) Eat moderately (TOUGH, I LOVE TO EAT)
4) Possibly run a mile on the treadmill to see how I feel... an easy mile (no faster than 6 mph)
I'll check in again Tues or Wed at the latest this week.... Have a Merry Christmas or Happy Holiday Season everyone!!!

It seems your weather in Missouri is somewhat reflective what we have here in Arkansas. The low this morning was 11 degrees going to a high of 31. My goal this week is to keep my motivation going. I got in 4 good days last week all coming toward the end-Wed, Thurs, Fri, and Saturday. My weight plateau continues as I am stuck on 250 down from the 260 in early November. The good news is I am not putting it back on which in the past I have (the depression kicks in when I see no progress and I eat). However, I have recognized this trend and so far so good I have avoided the trap.
My daughter will not be in for Christmas which makes me sad, but I am so proud of her after graduating from Baylor Law in August and getting a very nice job in Beaumount. My son works here in town after getting his doctorate in physical therapy so I have that to be thankful for. My stepson is still here in college locally so he will come over Thursday.
AND THE BEST NEWS is I am going to be a first time grandpa!!!! So, motivation just got an extra boost this past week to work on being healthy and active so I can take my grandbaby bike riding. |

Oh Gary - Congratulations on the news of getting to be Grandpa - it will add a dimension to your life you've never even dreamed of before. They really can be good motiviation for us.
I just made plans to go to NV to see my sister for Christmas. I'm really excited about that. She and I are going to work on a "plan" together for keeping us motivated and challenged to get healthier. We're going to do our own "Biggest Loser" campaign - base it on challenges and rewards. I'll let you know what we come up with.
I probably won't have time to post anything again before Christmas and I won't be home until Sunday - so "Merry Christmas" to you all. Have fun, be safe and enjoy!! TTYL Jane |

Hi Everyone! I had a good week but I did not do any strength training. So after Christmas, I am arranging my life so that time for it will no longer be a problem because I MUST do this training. I have been doing my walking except for one day but I've walked the rest of the days. Going to a friend's house for Christmas and I'll eat whatever they have but I avoid the sweet's although this year I did buy a pumpkim pie and sliced it into individual slices and stuck it in the freezer because I have been craving some for a couple years now so I may have a piece of that. A friend of mine gave me the cutest little gingerbread house!! It's so cute that I don't want to eat it but I may just eat the foundation because it doesn't have all of the icing on it..it's just gingerbread. I don't like that sweet icing. And another friend made some cookies for me and since they have icing, I will give those away too and another co-worker gave me white chocolate popcorn which doesn't appeal to me at all so I will trash that. So I may have pumpkin pie and the bottom of my gingerbread house and that will be my sugar fix for the year. I made it through all of the parties with no problems so now it's just Christmas and New Years. I hope all of you will have a wonderful Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! I am very much looking forward to 2009 because I will reach my goal weight. Take care everyone!
