My suggestion before you go the fad diet route is to try the food journal portion of FJ. My experience has been that when I log absolutely everything I eat then I can understand what I'm eating and its impact (hmmm... those 3 big handfuls of peanut M&Ms sure add up!). It's helped me make better choices. The weight has come off through this knowledge.
Also if you log your workouts and your food, a handy chart pops up on your FJ home page that has a green header if you are burning more calories than you take in, and a red one if your accounts go the other way. I try for an average of 300 calories less intake than output. This makes the weight loss relatively slow, but it's been pretty steady, with 16 pounds lost since September.
Good luck! |

Hi Meghan - I have done the cabbage soup diet at least 3 times. It is interesting. Kind of a detox. I can not vouge for the health aspects, but for me it worked well. And it can create a good base for continued healthy eating. I believe I did a 2 week version. I dropped about 7 lbs in the 2 weeks. I liked to do these about 3 weeks ahead of my backpacking trips to drop some un-needed weight that I did not want to carry around with me in the Sierra's.
I followed it strightly and did not cheat at all. I can say that it got a bit boring, so it is probably only good for a short duration. In addition, it is easy to put weight back on after unless you continue eating healthy. Lots of soups and salads.
Recently I have found I can just drop weight by eating different types of soups, salads and snacking on veggies, and it is a bit more interesting.
