I also agree about the Tanita scales. I'd say they are some of the best scales out there for the price. The new ones also will tell you your water weight, bone density, and all sorts of great stuff.

I have a Taylor scale, and it does BF and 0.2 lb increments. Not expensive ( Walmart). While it works in .2 lb incremetns I find that it seems to stick at times. While it weighs in 0.2 lbs increments, I don't think it is that sensitive to tell the difference. I also don't need the .2 lb incremetns personally.

In the Army we use a tape test for BF analysis. It works well for average people, not body builders. Here is a site for a free download of the automated program so you don't have to mess with conversion factors.

While it seems simplistic, they used alot of bodies to test the formulas and it is pretty accurate. Women use different measurements than men, and in fact men's weight isn't even taken into account, only neck and waist measurement. That is why it's only accurate for average people, but then so are the electronic scales ( or thats what the instructions say).

I just ordered a Tanita too....from Amazon, in fact along with that I ordered a Omoron pedometer that I read about on here. It's amazing that it can do weight, body fat, and water weight. Im looking forward to using it. Thanks everyone for all the info.

I bought a Tanita scale from Amazon and received it last weekend. Strange thing is, tho I have lost 4lbs this week, my body fat has gone up. I am exercising so I would think it would have gone down, just a little at least. Anyone else have this happen?
