I just wanted to provide an update regarding the Nike Plus and ipod system. I have been working with the ipod and workout data files for the last 24 hours and am happy to report that we will be able to import the stored workout files into Fitness Journal. I am going to be looking for a few early adopters who already have this hardware in hand to test the file upload process. Please let me know if you have this hardware and would be willing to do a few test uploads. I'm looking for both mac and pc users.
The biggest hurdle in incorporating this data happens to be accessing the hidden files on the ipod. I was able to write an applescript to take care of this on the mac side, and believe I have some easy to follow documentation for the PC side. The upload itself will be very simple.
So, if you already have one and would like to take part in my initial testing, please let me know. I'll have a lot of additional information to post over the next few days. |

OK. I just got the system. I'm going to try to set up the iPod tonight. I think it will be a great adjunct to fitnessjournal |

I bought a new nano and the Nike+ sensor and I have to say I'm lovin' it. Love the fact that it automatically saves and sends my data. I've only started actually listening to music as I workout since New Year's Day: before that I was using it as a glorified pedometer. I was afraid that listening to music would cause me to be less alert to hazards, but I just keep the volume pretty low and I can hear most things. |

Is this available? Is there any way to upload my nike+ history - since May 7 last year, I've logged over 900 miles, and I only have ~ 250 in Fitness Journal. |

Well, the holiday's were interesting in my house! I received a Nike Triax Elite watch with a very old software interface only to discover it's 4 years old and there's no plan to update since Nike has shifted to Nike +. That brings me to the second part of our holiday gifts. One of my kids received a Nike sports band that works with Nike + and my other son received an iPod Touch with the Nike chip that works with Nike +. After runs this week they are thrilled with the automated interface and integration of music. I'm frustrated having to log my data with old software and then have to enter the data into Fitness Journal - which I love. That being said, I'm torn with where this is heading and wondered if there's a plan to integrate the new iPod / Nike + data into Fitness Journal? |

Disregard....just noticed the post date.
Chris,
I have this system and use it on a PC based computer. I am more tha willing to help with the initial testing if needed.
I'm looking forward to a direct upload of the data!

Jim: This is a GO. 2009 is the year of data. We will be linking up with all sorts of devices in the first quarter of the year. I'll keep you posted. |

Chris, I have the Garmin Forerunner 305. If you have plans on loading that to the site I'll gladly be a guinea pig :D

Chris,
I'm a Nike + iPod user and I use a PC with Windows XP. I will also plan to upload my data via the iPod Touch itself. Feel free to contact me if you would like to run through some things.

At this point, parsing the files is not a problem. Getting the files off your ipod is more of the issue. I'm happy to dig back into this if you are interested! |

My girlfriend is a iPhone devoloper. . what's the issue with retrieving the file?
For example, if she can figure out how to pull the file off the phone, is there (or can there be) a utility to upload the data to FJ?

Some additional information. I just released the Garmin uploader for Fitness Journal. The next uploader on deck will be the Polar Heart Rate monitors. After that is complete, I'll be back working on the Nike Plus files. In regards to the Nike Plus files on your ipod: Each account will have a hidden directory that stores files. This directory is not built with a standard directory name so getting direct access to the files is one of the first steps. |

I had to use garmins help to figure out where to get the TCX file from to upload to the site. After a little research, I found that you have to right click the workout performed and export the file to a folder to get a TCX file. For those that want to upload your garmin workouts. :D Hope this helps anyone that wants to work with the garmin beta. |

Cool! Ok I'll keep a watch for when you start working with Nike plus again. In the meantime where do you access the garmin uploader? |

You can access the Garmin uploader from the website. Login to your journal, click on Workout Journal and look for the Garmin link at the top. Easy to use! Let me know if you have any questions with the garmin utility! |
