I'm 46, work on computers for a living but the operation of small electronics fly right over my head. Go figure.
I just bought an iPod Nano for running and driving and I can't seem to get it to charge on the computer. I upgraded my USB port to USB2, the red battery symbol is showing on the iPod but I can't seem to get it to charge on a regular basis. Do I have to have iTunes and the iPod off to get it to charge? It charges fine when plugged into the car charger. What gives?
While I'm thinking about it...how do teens text message anyway? :)

Hi Kevin,
I don't know why you're having problems. I plug my iPod video into my old computer with a USB 1.1 port and it charges pretty quickly (about an hour?). I would think that a Nano would charge the same since both models came out about the same time and probably have similar power technology. I could be way off here, but that's my guess.
You asked "how do teens text message anyway?"
I think they just press buttons on their phone, but what do I know? There might be another trick, but they are not letting me in on it. :-)

Kevin...do you use a port replicator? Either your power isn't constant on it or the computer itself if not charging.... Somewhere I read that the computer must be powered on to charge, or the port replicator in my case. My port replicator has a power switch for such situations as these.
See if your Nano charges whilst you are on the computer. If it doesn't, maybe it's a bad Nano (bad nano, bad...no no no!). Hope this helps! Beverly |

It does charge but not everytime I plug it in or even when it red. I'm a PC person not a Apple/MAC person so it's all new to me.

Hi Kevin:
If you are still having problems charging your IPOD I wanted to share this with you.
If you go into the Apple website: apple.com there is a charger that you can charge your IPOD into the wall outlet, I had to get one of those since I don't have my compute on all the time. I forgot how much it is, but you should be able to find it there.
