Call me dumb but I've been using this Polar F6 for a while now and didn't realize it had a PC wireless data transfer link until I accidentally hit a button today and "sonic link" appeared. After looking online I kinda got a grasp of how it works and was wondering if anyone else has used this feature and if you liked it?

Hey there. I can't believe you didn't get any replies. I have the F11 and always upload all my data. It's redundant with Fitness Journal in many ways, but I track my workouts in both. why? becase on the polar site, I see way more detail about my workout results than I can on the little watch unit. I'm assuming here that the F6 can send record all the same data and send the data to the Polar Web service (their site will tell you). If not, the value of sending the data off for you might be different that what I say here....

As an example of the data i see, when I open Wedneday's workout on the site, which was a total workout of 1 hour and 25 minutes, mostly Elliptical and Treadmill (elevated) plus weight training time too. I have to manually figure out after my workouts how much of it was each, but it's easy to remember. Anyway, here's what I see on the page:

Total Time: 1:24:45

Duration:

Calories: 592

Fat Consumption Estimate: 50% (based on the HR intensities used, I believe)

HRmax: 92%

HR Avg: 72%

HR Zone 1

Time in Zone 1: 27:35

High Limit: 70% (131 bpm)

Low Limit: 60% (112 bpm)

HR Zone 2

Time in Zone 2: 52:12

High Limit: 80% (150 bpm)

Low Limit: 70% (131 bpm)

HR Zone 3

Time in Zone 1: 4:16

High Limit: 90%

Low Limit: 80%

I don't know if the F6 has the same feature, but the F11 has a programming function where it determines the right workout time and intensities based on your current information (age, weight, OwnIndex or whatever that is) and your goals. On the site, it can show how i compared in my actual workout to the planned workout, and gives me weekly, montly, and more totals options. I can also add workouts that I didn't use the unit on manually. Anyway, if all this kind of data is important to you, or if you can use the data in some way on your personal machine, you might like it....

Ok I have an F11 and I didn't realize there was any wireless data transfer capabilities. How do I do this? What is the website?

Set up an account at http://www.polarpersonaltrainer.com

Make sure you have the Polar Link software http://support.polar.fi/PKBSupport.nsf/ALLDOCS/42256C2B001E0F6A42256CD2002F74BC?OpenDocument

Read up and your good to go.

I have the F11 and use both of these and love it.

E-mail me if you have any questions.

Rick
