Along with your inputted age, gender, weight, does the OwnIndex determine the HRmax or does the Polar just simply use the 220-age calculation? I am trying to figure out what part the OwnIndex plays other than watching the trend hopefully go up. At age 53 my initial test gave me a 35 and my most recent test a 37. Does that affect my HRmax?

Hey Gary. The Polar website, polarusa.com,, has nice tutorials for the F11. It will explain a bit about the Ownindex, the Ownzone, and other features. I'm sure you'll get other responses here as well. Have a great week. John

The OwnIndex I found out is not used in the calculation of the HRmax. It is just used to trend your VO2max. Thanks John.

Hi Gary,

I am trying to use the Own Index function in conjunction with having my VO2 formally tested. Have you continued to use this feature over time. I did not rest the day before like it said I should but I took the test anyway this a.m.:

Age 38 - 51 is the result.

It will be interesting to see how this trends over time and compares to my VO2 calculated via beathing tests which read 52.6 at the first testing.
