Weight training should help your tri training. If you are CONSTANTLY getting sore after each workout then you may need to change up your routines. Plus, you may not need to do everything to failure. Remember, every time you are doing that, you are tearing your muscles down and need to give them time to recoup and repair.(Also try a protein shake and amino acids) That is when you make your gains JUST LIKE when you do your swim, bike, run training. Do you ALWAYS run at a pace that causes you complete exhaustion or bike to exhaustion? NO, and if you are, then you need to change that too.

Try 3 sets of pyramids. Start with a relatively easy weight and do 12 reps, then move up to a heavier weight and hit 10 reps and finish with a heavier weight than that and hit 8 reps. The last should be challenging but not vein popping, teeth gritting, three shades of purple/red face difficult. You may gain strength slower but you shouldn't be as sore plus it will be a good way to maintain your gains. IF you want to add a little more to the above do the 12,10,8 and then come back down 8,10,12, however, that is going to double your workout time.

Train smarter, not harder
