Thanks for the update Sherron. My advice for the "season of sweets" which runs from October through April:) is to anticipate and plan. Those fail to plan plan to fail or something like that. Work in a "splurge" day, a realistic one. and drink lots of water. OK, now to walk the talk!!!

How do you guys get all those miles out of so little hours??? I worked my butt off last week and only logged in 18.5 miles. Am I that slow or are you all that fast??? Just curious.

Hi Patricia,

My miles are a combo of swimming, running and biking, 6 days a week in preparation for my TRI.

Wait! What? Swimsuit season winding down? NOOOO!!!

C'mon, I'm finally on my way (again)to a sleek, toned physique--it can't be almost over!

I do have a question, and am open to suggestions about the winter months, now that you've brought it up, Sherron. I'm wanting to purchase (probably second-hand, via CL) some type of cardio machine--whether it be a treadmill, exercise bike, or the like. I'm curious as to what some of you have used, and which you like the best.

Last winter, I marched through sleet, snow, and ice all winter, and would like an alternative--especially for my daughter, who runs and is probably more likely to fall on the ice!

Thanks!

Ann,

I get a great workout with my elliptical trainer. It's easier on the legs than a treadmill, and mine is the kind where you can work out your arms as well.

Kathylyn,

That explains it!!! I really didn't mean anything negative by my comment. Different programs would equal different miles/time. You are one busy person.

Keep up the good work!!!

How depressing to be talking about winter already - but I do appreciate the good tips some of you have come up with for keeping those dark days at bay.

I have been so busy doing fit-it jobs around my house, I haven't been able to go "exercise". However, I did buy a pedometer the other day so I could record the steps I am taking. Oh My! What an eye opener. I was sure I was running a 5K at work every day only to find out I'm not taking near as many steps as I had perceived I was. But at least, now I KNOW that and can start adjusting accordingly.

I do have a treadmill at home that I use for those icy days or when it gets too dark to be outside safely. I also have a Total Gym which is a wonderful way to work the upper body after getting warmed up on the treadmill.

Congrats to all of you who are doing so well. Your posts do help inspire me to do better. Thanks!! Jane

I have a very busy week going... I am hosting a Taekwondo tournament on Saturday. I am expecting close to 100 competitors from schools all over the mid-west. I have a ton of prep work to do the rest of this week, Friday will be spent setting up the tournament floor and then Saturday will be the tournament all day. So if you don't hear from me the rest of the week know that I'm still here, just very busy!!!

Ann... I have a treadmill and an exercise bike. I prefer the treadmill, but I think it is all about what you like to do. I enjoy running so I think that's why I enjoy the treadmill more than the bike. I do have to say that I would rather run outside than anything though... I try to do that as much as possible in the winter.

KEEP MOVING!!!

I'll probably not get to post again until Sunday, if then. Going to see my new grandson in TN tomorrow. Everyone have a good, productive, rest of the week.

Talk to you later on.
