This one has been a long time coming. You now have the option to upload jpeg image files when you write or edit a post. The jpeg will create an icon directly under your post that will open up your uploaded image in a new window. Lets consider this in test mode for right now.
You can even go back and upload images on OLD posts if you like, just by clicking on the edit button. One note: if you edit a post that already has an image, and do not upload an image, it will over-write the original image file. I will make this clearer as time goes on. Enjoy!
