Happy Monday Everyone:)

Did hill repeats this am and then walked for a mile to cool down. Need to increase my endurance for hills as my next 5K is very hilly. Have a great week everyone.

Hi all...

I just got back from a 7 mile run... feels good to do that outside!!!

On the theme of outside... I had a party at my house yesterday. We set up tables and chairs in the garage, and spent the entire day outside! What a beautiful day, the sun was shining, the birds were chirping, and the kids were not saying "I'm bored, there's nothing to do!" They had plenty to do outside. It was a great day to spend with family and friends out in the fresh air, and yes I did sleep well last night!

KEEP MOVING!!!

Hey...where is everyone? Like I can speak, so HERE I AM! I think I need to adjust my goals. VITAMINS...so simple yet, I don't get it done every day, until now. Water...8-12 glasses a day. Here's the deal I made with myself: I don't have to log my food as long as I'm living the good life on small meals and intake. Training plan...still gotta get it done but am out there running/jogging/walking whatever.

So that's it! Now c'mon people.................

I guess everyone is enjoying the nice weather! Just finished a 4 mile run/walk outdoors for the first time in months. What a new feeling! Looking foward to increasing my mileage now that the weather has made the turn.

I am still struggling with my diet. Binging every once in awhile. I need to be stricter and more disciplined. It's Monday and as good as any time to start.

I ordered the new Nike + Sportsband and expect it any day. I will give you a user's review upon use.

Hope everyone has a great week! Remember you goals and do your best to achieve them day by day!

Last week was full of slacking off. Suffered alot from the "I don't feel like its". Did run a 10k on Saturday so all was not lost. Finished in 48:12. Not bad for my 1st 10k. Hoping to get it down to about 45 minutes eventually. A bit sore though Sunday and Monday so I didn't do anything. But! Cant wait till the end of the day to go for an easy run and then work in the garden/play with the dog ect. Have a great week everyone!

This week has started out very good. Yesterday I was minus 836 calories; 1292 from BMR & 604 from exercise. So, that is a good way to start the week. Now, I need to try to keep it there ALL week.

Everyone keep up the good work & have a good day.

Goals for the week:

1. Keep drinking water.

2. Do the best I can do with food intake & exercise.

[Copied from another thread]

I'm baaaaaack!

So good of you all to carry the torch on this thread. Sorry to have abandoned all of you. Funny, you've become like a second family and I have missed you.

Thanks for the outreach to inquire as to my absence. It was rather petty and selfish really. I have disclosed the story to some of you and in pieces, so I will set the record straight.

My enthusiasm to do a larger number of races this year was subdued by my lovely wife. Further, my Vineman tri was eliminated unilaterally. I'm finding my limiters are not my own strength or will but that of the responsibility to the family.

Further, after taking a weeklong vacation and putting in my first renewed training run (if you could call it a run) on the beach, it was suggested I was "ignoring the family". Well, after that comment my vacation training ceased.

Post vacation, I lost all heart for the tri and was ready to sell the bike (yet unridden at the time) and the rest of my equipment. Of course, my lovely wife came back and said that training is o.k. within reason. O.K., how many of you die hards know "tri training within reason?" Ugh.

Nonetheless, I have done some reflecting in light of several observations of which I will mention two. First, when I work out, the effect rubs off on others around me including my family. When I exercize and watch my diet so does my family (although they refuse to admit it).

Next, I find that God has left me with the perfect use of all my faculties. Whereas my neighbor, who has been fighting cancer for some time now, has succumed to the disease and has stopped treatment and is now in the phase of pain management. I cannot imagine being so selfish as to abandon what I love because some limiters will not permit me to achieve my fullest potential. See oh others who cannot even begin or continue to do the things they love has given me a renewed perspective. So in the spirit of positive living and the desire for healthier living...I resume my training (albeit with less vigor).

Thanks again to each of you for reaching out in my absence and continuing to post on this thread and on FJ in general.

Here's to a healthy and positive '08!!!

Let the games continue. (I'm behind but not out of the race so don't let me catch you slacking)

- 5K this weekend. I'll post the results regardless of the outcome. :(

Hi All!

Well I got back from T.O. and went to post my activities and found to my dismay that there is no category for shopping. Now, after spending 11 hours shopping on Wednesday I know I burned some calories because everything hurt! Of course my wallet was much easier to carry!

But now it's back to basics. I need to focus on getting back to healthy eating and regular exercise.

This week my goal is just to get back on track.

Have a great week everyone!

Ingrid

Glad to hear things are ok. I am in the same situation. I get accused of workout too much and find it hard to balance between family/working out. I don't think 1-2hrs per day should be a big deal. I think everyone needs time to themselves. I'm getting ready for a HIM in August and finding it hard to balance. Just wanted to let you know you are not alone.

I am coming out of a rough week -- lots of tragedy hitting some close friends. While caring for others, I totally lost site of my goals & this challenge. I want to get back with the program!

My goals: Track what I am eating. Run at least 30 minutes a day the rest of the week.

Kristy, we feel for ya! Life has a way of entering in. Jennifer, WELCOME and way to jump in girl.

I think the intersting thing about this group, from my perspective, is that I'm not alone in my endeavor to attain balance. Whether we're more weighted in the family, exercise, eating, working (or whatever) arena we are all striving to learn balance so that one or two things don't consume our lives. Meanwhile learning balance in making sure that those thing we love and that are important to us as individuals can still happen. Maybe it's about prioritizing and balancing. Welcome back Greg!

Kind of quiet on the board this week. Have run twice this week and will run tommorow morning. Been a tough week dealing with sad staff/riders and volunteer due to the loss of our horse. Have a great weekend everyone:)

Good morning everyone!!

The posts have been a little slow the last couple of days, but people are probably out & about, doing healthy things.

I've done extremely well this week re: water intake, food choices, exercise. I did 1 hour of pilates & 1 hour of step-aerobics yesterday evening. Hadn't done those for that long before. It was pretty good. I liked the step-aerobics better, fast paced. The pilates was basically stretching, which I like, but I'm used to Body Sculpting where you use weights & it is very, very fast paced. But, it was o.k.

Hope everyone has a good weekend. I probably won't post again until Sunday.

Tomorrow I will probably eat something I am not supposed to but I will plan ahead to compensate for the indulgence!!!

Greetings! The pup and I are back :) We're getting our walk/jog/runs in and building on our pace average. Hey, it's good to be back outside again. You know it is! Have a great weekend everyone.

I have been doing well this week with exercise too! It has been really beautiful outside most days. I have gone for two long runs and two bike rides (the first of the season).

Tomorrow I have a tournament so I probably won't get in a work-out. I think I will try to convince my hubby to go for a walk tonight.

I won't have time to post again until at least Sunday, so have a great week-end and remember...

KEEP MOVING!!!

Hi all...just checking in at the end of the week before restating some goals next week.

I did a 4 mile run this week and lo and behold, it turned out pretty well (if my watch isn't faulty that is). I did the following:

Mile 1 - 8 min/mile

Mile 2 - 9 min/mile

Mile 3 - 8:30 min/mile

Mile 3 - 8:40 min/mile

I was delighted.....perhaps some time off is good for the body and soul.

Keep up the great work everyone.

Greg
