I've been working on a cool project over here that I'm going to open up to the community. I've accumulated a vast number of pictures of our local FJ team riders and built some custom Fitness Journal magazine covers that will be printed and framed. The results are fantastic and I am going to be offering this as a product, which would make a great Christmas gift. Each one is custom made and requires one high resolution image, and a handful of standard size jpeg files. The end result is a framed 16" by 20" print for your wall. I'm including a few examples here.

The article titles are all based on the individual athlete. Each headline will have something to do with their 2007 or 2008 season.

Turn around time for this sort of thing is pretty fast, I'd say about 10 days from request to delivery based on the time it takes for prints to arrive.

There are a few requirements with this. First, the primary image must be a very high resolution image. This means it needs to be scanned HUGE, or come from a digital camera that outputs a high quality image.

Do you have them for running or does it have to be biking? |

Hey Matt:
The magazine covers that I've done so far were based on a cycling photo shoot. I'm sure we will have lots of different custom sport covers as time goes on. Thanks for your comment. |

By the way: the product that would be offered is a completely custom cover. You provide a few high res images of yourself, I create a custom FJ magazine cover and headlines just for you. |

Matt: I don't have firm pricing yet, but I'm expecting that it will come in two flavors: framed and unframed. The framed version will be most likely just under 100 bucks, and the unframed version will be somewhere in the area of 65 dollars. Each cover is a complete custom print. Duplicates would be available on request. The end result should be fantastic :-) The first versions should be out of here within the next week. |

Here is what I need to do a custom print. Anyone who is interested, please let me know. I'm making a formal ordering process however if you are in a hurry, here is what I need from you to get started:
1: a HIGH RESOLUTION image of you doing something cool. when I say high resolution, it needs to be something larger than 2500 pixels wide. The bigger, the better. I shoot with a canon digital that outputs images at 3500 x 2300 pixels. You don't need to go that big but bigger is always going to look better.
2: I need 2-3 smaller images of you doing other stuff. This is optional however it will really fill out the magazine cover. For examples, see the covers that I've completed above
3: Get creative. Come up with 5 or 6 important things that happened to you this year. It doesn't need to be some crafty headline (but feel free). An example might be "ran the boston marathon". I'll take that and totally spin it into something headline worthy. Feel free to get as crazy as you like with these.
Once I have your images and headline ideas, I'll start creating an image. You can send stuff directly to me (chris@fitnessjournal.org) using the subject line of "Magazine Cover Images for [your name here]" You can also email me with any particular requests. Since each of of these is completely custom, if you want something, I can do it for you (although extra custom work may require additional time and a higher end price). |
