Hear goes:

1.) Maintain the tradition - San Jose International Tri - (5th year in a row for me) Goal time: 2:20. Last year's time was 2:27.

2.) Do at least one 24-hour adventure race.

3.) Run the San Diego Rock and Roll marathon Under 4 hours.

4.) Curls: 3 sets of 50lbs 10 reps (by July) (this has no direct benefit to any sports I do - purely to see if I can do it :) )

My Goals for 2007 are as follows...

1. Get down to 140 lbs and maintain between 140 & 150lbs.

2. Be more well roundded in my work-out... not just Kardio Kickboxing all the time.

3. Keep my house reasonably clean... this is not a fitness goal, but it's important to me.

4. Train hard for the Castle Rock Triathlon and get my time under 1:40... last year it was 1:40:45!

5. Keep active on the FJ website and keep going with the 12 week challenges.

KEEP MOVING!!!

I'd like to run the rock 'n' roll marathon in San Diego. I've never done that one. I also plan to do 3 more half marathons (in states that aren't on my full/half marathon list), 3 bicycle metric centuries and have a successful triathlon (looking for warm water suggestions - I'll post a thread under triathlons in a few weeks). Also to do my first event with my new horse (that I don't yet have).

Afternoon All,

It's great to see that everyone is setting their goals for the New Year. Wishing you all the best of luck in achieving them. I know you can and more importantly YOU KNOW YOU CAN.

Got some time up my sleeve today (need to keep my mind off other things), so here are my 2007 goals!

(1) Complete Fun Run/ Walk (distance dependant) - keep you posted on that

(2) Commence Yoga Practice and continue weekly practice

(3) Decrease Body Fat to 28% (currently sitting at 34% - too many festivities)

(4) Decrease Metabolic Age to 26 (currently at 42 - nearly double my age!)

(5) Increase Hydration to 50% + = 3 consecutive months in a row

I've started a 2007 Goal Management Book today. This lists all of the above + some other personal goals and then each goal has mini goals underneath it as stepping stones and also lists the challenges I may face in achieving these goals. Figure its better to be aware of them now, so they don't entirely swipe me off my feet if the unfortunate does happen and they do occur!

Looking forward to hearing about how everyone says goodbye to 06 and HELLO! to 07!

Keep Safe, Liv

1). Get to my goal weight of 125 lbs - only 8 lbs to go! (I'm 5'3" and female)

2). Average 2 full body weight workouts a week

3). Average 5-6 cardio workouts a week of at least 20 minutes each. Two of these days will be shared with the weights workouts.

4). Have better control over my evening dinner portions and after dinner snacks, also on weekends. I tend to go for 2nds and sometimes thirds, then have snacks later at night. I know that if I get a little better control over that I'll be able to burn off those last pesky 8 lbs.

5). Continue to accel at work - 110% everyday - always thinking of improving customer service and productivity.

6). Continue to save money and pay down credit cards.

Thanks Chris. I've been meaning to do this and now have no reason not to. I can't escape the challenge:

- Eat smaller portions. (That's real hard for me)

- Go from 5-6 Pepsi's a day to 1

- Make smoothies and protein shakes.

- Hydrate more often.

- Work stretching, pilates and yoga into my training program.

- Increase overall willpower.

- Start running again after knee surgery and attain an 8:30 pace or better for 10K.

- Complete run of 1/2 iron without stopping.

- Swim 1900m in 30 minutes or less. Maintain that for 3800m?

- Complete the Pacific Crest Olympic in less than 3 hours.

- Cross the United States in the FJ Map Room. (I'm 98 miles away now. So close)

- Finish my first ironman distance triathlon (Grand Columbian) with a smile!

Good luck to everyone. Happy New Year.

Kevin

Weight goal at the end of 2007 = 185-190 pound range. Current weight 240.

Focus more on eating habits in 2007. I focused solely on fitness for 2006 and while that worked my weight loss became a weight neutral.

Ride my road bike more frequently. Ride in at least 2 medium length (40-60 mile) sanctioned rides.

Train for a 1/2 marathon with a goal of running it at a 8-9 minute mile pace.

Monitor my blood pressure and cholesterol.

Strive to me more consistent with my workout schedules and eating habits.

This will be fun to read at the end of 2007. Thanks Chris.

Hmmmmm too many to list but let me get down a few.

- Wanted to complete 3600 miles JUST biking in 2006 and that fell WAY short. I did manage to complete a total of 3200+ so a more realistic goal for 2007 is to complete a total of 4500 miles (swim, bike, run).

- Stay away from fried foods and those darn steak, egg, and cheese biscuits

- Eat more salads, veggies, fruits

- Lose the little bit of pesky gut fat and get a 6 pack by hitting the area with more core work and on a consistent basis. (I will send a picture when I reach this goal) (minimum 3 times a week but shoot for 5x)

- Stretch more to help reduce injuries (at least 4 times a week)

- Increase bike avg speed by 2 mph and increase run pace (fastest is 7:02 per mile so want to get down to a 6:30 or even 6:00) increase swim pace by at least 15 seconds.

- Give Joy Johnson a run for her pancakes at Memphis in May Tri

- Finish IMFL in 12:30

- Finish Gulf Coast Half IM in 5:30 or better

- Protect skin from the sun by applying sunscreen DAILY!!!! Must keep the young attractive youthful appearance to go along with my youthful personality...or is that immaturity??? hmmmmmm

That is it for now.

I am going to learn to roll that %$#@ kayak this year. Early in the year.

Other than that: Keep swimming, playing kayak polo, and doing Pilates. Work core 2-3 times a week (ideally 3!), counting Pilates as core work. Seriously consider doing one or more open water swim events (not calling them races because I mostly want the training motivation) this summer.

I have one main resolution - finish my first Ironman. Sub to this goal are the following:

- Eat properly and maintain a healthy weight

- Get enough sleep (big issue this past year!)

- Stretch and do sufficient strength work to avoid injuries

- Enoy the training, racing and the whole experience.

I'm also helping turn my tri club into a formal non-profit society so my goals for that are:

- To make the club the best we possibly can and lay a solid foundation we can build on in the years to come

- Not burn out on volunteering

I also want to get to the end of the US map to see what comes next and get out of Ontario ASAP on the Canada map (no offence intended to Ontario-ites).

2. Run a 5k in 30 minutes, currently I'm running it in 34 minutes.

3. Run the 10k in September 2007 in under 1 hour. In 2006 I did it in 1 hour 4 minutes.

4. Lower my body fat from 25% to 22%

Amy, You and I have similar goals. I am looking to get down to 125 too and I'm about 5'4". Good luck to you in your goals. The last 5-10 lbs can be the hardest but with the plan you've laid out for cardio and weights I think your well on your way. Keep up the good work!!!

Well, here goes.

1. Exercise at least 6 hours per week

2. Loose about 15 lbs. (BMI is good but would like to try to get rid of some of the lbs so I don't have to be taped every year)

3. Be able to run continuous for 5 miles.

Happy New Years all,

Heather

This is my first post. In 2007 my main goals are:

1. Finish the Dakar rally in Jan 2008 (up from Day 6 in 2006.)

2. Prepare for Dakar by finishing an Ironman triathlon in Qatar on 2 Dec 07.

My subordinate goals are:

- lose 23kg to reach my target weight of 70kg by 30 Jun 07

- run 5km in 20 mins by 30 Jun 07

- run 10km in 40 mins by 15 Nov 07

- my doctor is happy with my cholesterol and bp levels again

To achieve these goals each week I will do:

- 30-60 mins cardio 5 days mornings

- 1-2hrs gym and circuit training 3 days afternoons

- 30-60 mins stretching and yoga the other 3 days

- weekly dirt bike run including technical sections, plus 1-2 afternoons instead of gym as goals are reached

- improve diet through single portions, no junk, no alcohol except red wine, take vitamins.

Here's my resolution and Committment for 2007.

Weight goal by Jan 1, 2008: 140. This will require losingthe 8 lbs. I put on in December, plus additional 60 lbs to weight of 140 by Jan 1 08. I lost 60 last year, but put 8 back on. Spent the last half of 2007 working on fitness which made me weight neutral from July until Dec 1.

Average 16 miles/week walking for 830 miles/year.

Purchase my bike for my birthday in May and average riding minimum 2x/week.

Make desserts a weekly extravagance, and no more than that!

Check my blood work 2x/year and get my cholesterol down to normal limits, either by diet alone or add statin if that doesn't work.

Learn to dance 2 ballroom dances well by July 1.

Complete in 4 half marathons.

Start running and complete a 5K.

Spend 1 hour in Bible study and prayer/day, 5 days/week.

Participate in friendship activity every week.

Random act of kindness to strangers 2x every week.

Paint my house on the inside - every room - no exceptions.

OK - here are mine!

1. Work out at least 24 days per month on average for the entire year. Feb will be tough! :)

2. Weigh in the 180's by Memorial Day - that's about 25 pounds to lose

3. Include at least two days per week of weight training through that same period

Good Luck to everyone on your resolutions!

My ultimate “40 by 40” goal is to be maintaining in the 140-weight range by my 40th birthday (March 2008). This equals a 50-pound weight loss goal during 2007 in order to give myself the beginning of 2008 to learn to maintain a healthy weight.

Drink half my body weight in ounces of water on a daily basis.

Exercise 5x times per week with no 2 days off in a row. Swimming, water aerobics, treadmill, neighborhood walking, balance ball, toning bands, weight bar, etc.

Per doctor suggestion, half of my daily intake should be vegetables. Hopefully, this will help control my recent diabetes diagnosis whereas medication is no longer necessary.

Fitness Journal every day for accountability.

Be happy and healthy with a positive attitude… not only with fitness, but with family, friends, work, etc. Find what makes me happy if it’s not automatically happening.

Great idea Chris! You Rock!

Race goals for 2007:

Maintain two masters swim workouts and one ocean swim per week (ocean begins in March and lasts until September)

Walk the Shoreline Half Marathon in Feb

Do five ocean races (Huntington Beach, Seal Beach, Santa Barbara, Santa Barbara tri and Oceanside) swims building up to the 3 mile ocean race in La Jolla in September.

Do five triathlons again in 2007: Toyota, Danskin, Santa Barbara, Long Beach, San Diego

Do three sprint triatlons with Nikki (ten year old who did her first tri at age 8)

Try an Xterra race?

Weight goal:

Lose 10 pounds by March- one pound per week

Lose 10 more pounds by the end of the year and keep it off.

Maintain friendships across all my various groups- tri club, masters swim, golf, etc.

Be a positive athletic role model for my daughter and her friends.

Maintain more healthy eating and positive outlook towards all I meet!

This maybe the most difficult resolution. Any suggestions on blades or technique would be appreciated.

OK let's write it down and see how I did a year from now!

The mos timportant goals:

Stay healthy, eat right, smaller portion, more veggies.

Hydrate more with water(I often have haedaches due to dehydration).

Loose a few pounds (mostly bring down the body fat %), maintain 115 for the winter and reach 112 as a racing weight for the summer.

Do some streching-yoga and weight training to avoid injuries.

Improve my speed, and power in order to get some PR'S in the short distances races (no IM this year!).

Manage to train a minimum of 8 hours/week ( not easy with a 2.5 year old son!)

Participate in some olympic and sprint distances triathlons.

Do a PR on a 1/2 marathon (below 1:45), and a 10km (below 45:00).

Run a marathon in the fall ( goal 3:45)

Enjoy the year, and keep having fun training....oh boy that's a lot to accomplish in one year!

All the best to everyone

Great idea, Chris! And great to see all the variety in these goals, you guys. Rooting for you all!

Scale weight is no longer an issue for me, I'm right where I should be and maintaining, but I still have LOTS of progress to make towards recouping my overall level of fitness in general.

SO My OVERARCHING fitness goal for this year:

CONSISTENCY AND PROGRESS WITHOUT REINJURY....

SO that, by 1/1/2008 I will be able to look back at a full year of enjoying swimming, lifting, stretching, walking, hiking, pilates, FIRM and other workout videos without interruption, and have the shape (ie bodysculpting), energy, stamina and flexibility to show for it.

Good idea Chris.

I am new to this site but I will give this a try.

EXERCISE:

A) Try to exercise a minimum of 6 hours per week. Include cardio (Nordic Track, treadmill, bike), weight training and circuit training at gym, pilates, yoga and meditation, classes

B) Maybe sign up for some ballroom dancing classes

C) Try to do whatever I can that is better than I did the day before. Take each new day as it comes

D) Just get moving and walking: goal of 10,000 steps a day by years end.

FOOD AND WATER:

A) Drink at least 6-8 glasses of water per day. (In fact anything over three glasses will be a major improvement - drinking way too much coffee)

B) Cut down on coffee

C) Start drinking decaf coffee

D) Watch portion size and eat 2 fresh fruits and/or vegetables per day.

E) Lose 16 pounds (sensibly)

SITE GOALS:

A) Move 900 miles on USA map

B) Try to maintain the motivation to keep improving oneself

PERSONAL:

A) Try to keep up house on a daily basis

B) Declutter all aspects of my life whenever and wherever necessary and simplify my life in every way possible

C) Surround myself with people who I like and who I enjoy

D) Just enjoy each day as it comes.
