I feel compelled to respond to this comment, not because you really sound like an ad for propel, but because of the possible risks associated with sucralose. Sucralose, Splenda, is a chlorinated sucrose derivative, a compound which is man made and does not occur anywhere in nature. Your body doesn't process it, some of it is absorbed and doesn't always get excreted but can be stored in your body, in fat cells.

There are people who have reactions to it. I am not endorsing this chemical or trying to claim it is bad for everybody.

I prefer plain water, or in some cases old fashioned gatorade, but only after heavy exercise in warm weather. Sugar is natural, but like everything else in this world, moderation is the key. I have lived in southern states for the last several year and when I am in a hot environment for many days ( I am in the Army and we go the field for 5-10 days at a time in the summer in GA or LA wearing heavy clothing and gear with no AC available) I take potassium supplements, or Emergen-C. Little caloric intake but they assist in keeping me well hydrated.

Diet modification is difficult, but the answer to it is slow changes over time.

And in truth too much water can kill people also, I believe it is called hyponutremia.

Fruit juices do contain many of the good product of fruit, antioxidants and vitamins. Cranberry juice can help prevent urinary tract infections. Some say cherry juice will help prevent gout. Orange juice has soluble fiber.

Again, moderation and variety. Just my opinion.

I would like to thank you for this info. I do drink at least 8 glass of water a day, I learned that from ww. I agree with you with anything moderation and balance is the key to life. At this point I am putting both of this in my life to become healthy again. Thanks tj.

It is easy to fall into a habit of drinking too much fruit juice and increasing your total calories without knowing it. When I was growing up, orange juice was served in the morning, in a small glass, a 4 oz glass. But now with the availability of many different types of juice, multiple 12 oz glasses a day is not uncommon.

I still will buy some juice, or blueberry, pomegranite, cherry, or cranberry (making sure it is 100% of that juice) and then only drink a 4-6 oz glass a day. I do it for the health benefits of those fruit. The bottle always costs more than say a mixed fruit drink, but you get 100% of that fruit, and in a small portion each day it works out to be the same.

That is probably hard to explain with kids of course.

I really like the Dasani flavored waters and also flavored (unsweetened) seltzer. On the west coast, Calistoga, Talking Rain etc on the east coast, Vintage, Poland Springs, in the midwest, CAP 10 all do interesting flavors of seltzer. Dasani does a lemon and a berry of some sort, just a touch of flavor with no sweetening. I also really like Smart Water (unflavored) that has electrolytes, but no flavor. Somehow, I find that water to be very sweet (like spring water). Maybe it is the electrolytes/minerals.
