Hello everyone,
I've been real excited to begin exercising on a daily basis. I've been in the FJ group about 2 months and need a boost in the motivation area. Need FRIENDS! I'm walking roughly 18 miles a week, and biking a few miles for fun. Any responses would be great!
Thanks, Tarina

Thanks Jim for the note! That was good motivation for me. You may not have as many miles but your miles seem to burning more calories. Are you just biking?

Doing some swimming, biking, and running but I like biking the best so yes, that racks up the miles and calories. Running is okay but I am nursing a knee injury right now so only do about 3 miles every other day if I am running. Working to build up the distance again as long as the knee holds out. I have a Half Ironman coming up which involves a 13.1 mile run after a 1.2 mile swim and a 56 mile bike. Piece of cake!!! =)
Where exactly are you located? |

Tarina - Easy to find friends on this website. You can even add friend's that don't know they are friends:o)
Look at some of the posts for people focused on walking, and add them to your list. I try to look for people that are doing similar exercises as me and add them. I had Jim Campbell, and a few others added well before I ever communicated with them.
Best of luck to you, go get em!

Hey Tarina,
If you enable sharing in your setup people can add you to their friends list and drop you a line occaissionally.
I second Jim C#1's comment (I seem to do that a lot!), 18 miles is an awesome distance. I know I don't run or walk that far in a week.
Good luck!

Hi Mwasi,
I just read an interesting article on Active.com about motivation to exercise and setting goals: http://active.com/story.cfm?story_id=13720&sidebar=17&category=activeusahomepage.
I can vouch from personal experience that having a goal like a 5km run, 10km run, sprint triathlon, etc. is a great motivator to get me out of bed in the morning and I strongly recommend it. You also get the added bonus of an awesome feeling of accomplishment when you reach the goal.
Also, of course, you'll find lots of good people on FJ to help give you a push when you need it.
Good luck (and have fun) with your running.
Alison. |

Hi Tarina, I use a pedometer and track my steps and miles daily both here and other sites. a few you may like are sparkpeople.com and walkertracker.com I use both and have met some really wonderful people on line who help me to stay motivated. If I can help let me know. Peggi |
