Hello fellow journallers. I started using FJ 2 weeks ago and I'm quite happy so far. Now that I have a better feel for things I want to ask about how we could make FJ more social.

The reason that I began my search that brought me to FJ was because I have a number of friends with whom I wanted to share my training experiences, goals and achievements. Now that I'm here I'm thinking; "it would be nice to share with other journallers too." The problem is that unless you know each other you can't connect. Then I see posts like "Any journallers in the UK?" or "why don't we start a FJ group on Facebook?"

It seems to me that there should be a facility on FJ like you have on other social networks that allows you to search for other members by various criteria (gender, age, hometown/country, sport etc.) You can then make a friend request and connect that way. Makes sense to anybody else?

side note: There is now a brand new fitness journal group on facebook. Just search for Fitness Journal in your facebook groups and you should be able to locate this group.

Chris

I don't particularly want to join facebook but I do think that Russell's idea is good and something that people might be interested in.

As a follow up, I wanted to add that there are lots of cool new social networking tools that will be included here at Fitness Journal over the next few months, including the release of our shared calendar, club tools, and much more. I appreciate your feedback and am excited to develop new ways for all of us to come together as a community!

I'm on Facebook as well, just search "Bob Rodkin" and add me if you like.

I found this area because I was trying to find if I have a viewable "Profile" either to other FJ users, everyone, or both. I just wanted to add the link to my blog site.

Also, where do I check to see if I have sharing on. I see most people have an indicator by their name and I'd like mine to be on ...maybe it is?

Thanks.

Okay, I found the "Sharing ON' preference. Now you all can see just how bad I am at this fitness/health thing. But hey, I joined FJ, and I just started (ok, re-started) getting serious again.

Another great way to network on FJ while striving toward your personal goals is the 6 week challenge :) It's not too late to join...just jump in and state your goals and go for it! All we ask is for a check in at least once a week. Hope to see you all there~
