For those of you in and or around NJ, there are number of great 10K plus walks and cycling events. I did one of them this weekend and once again enjoyed myself and got great exercise. The one that I did was the Red Bank walk which takes you through two parks on the water front, by the Count's former home (Count Basie), through the downtown area and back and through some nice areas in a very hip little town. The Princeton Area Walkers run this walk on a volunteer basis and they are part of the AVA group. As I complete some of these walks I will do a little write up on them. It was mighty cold outside today but once you get moving the weather doesn't seem to be that bad.
Here is a little writeup from the site concerning the walk:
"NJ Monthly magazine describes Red Bank as "The Hip Town" with an antique district, unusual NYC like boutiques and shops downtown, 125 restaurants with delicious food ranging in price from reasonable to very expensive. Count Basie was born here in 1904 and you will pass 229 Count Basie Way. Hotels, parks with beautiful views on the picturesque Navesink River, numerous casual and upscale restaurants and lounges, art galleries , theaters and shops featuring antiques, collectibles, gifts, clothing. Check www.redbank.com for info on Farmer's Market, street performances, concerts, garden shows, holiday festivities, fireworks, Shakespeare in the Park, sidewalk sales, art walk tours."
