So FJ triathletes - are you in your off-season?

If so, what are your plans? Running races? Becoming one with the couch? Getting your alcohol tolerance back? Weight training? World domination?

I'm emerging from a couple weeks of TV watching and general lethargy and am trying to figure out my fall plans. I'm thinking my traditional late November half marathon and a 5km and 10km to see if I have any fast twitch left.

Anyone else?

Mightyman Half Triathlon Sept 30, Hartford Marathon on Oct. 13 (my first).

Looking for a used indoor bike trainer so I don't lose all my cycling skills this winter. After October I'm pretty much done unless I find something in the warmer climates!!

1/2 IM this week end, Big Kahuna, with another local FJer.

After that, I plan to go more to weight lifting, perhaps do more group rides (The group is signing up for some centuries). I should continue to work on swimming and running though some how...

Truthfully, I have never had an "off season", because this is my first year with a "season". So I really don't have a clue as to what I am "suppose" to do. Open to suggestions though...

May do a sprint in November, Treasure Isle Tri. No particular reason other than this was my first ever tri a year ago.

IMFL in roughly two months but have one more sprint before that. After IMFL then we do some local 5k's and in December we will start the USAT Challenge which is a GREAT way to stay active and train during the off season. I came away last year with some nifty prizes and this year our club will be competing so all my buds will be working hard also. We are also planning on doing a marathon in February. We will see if I can officially finish my first ever marathon only race.

I've got the Grand Columbian Half-Iron on Sept. 15, then I'm doing the Portland Marathon Oct. 7. Then because I want to join the Marathon Maniac Club and I think the easiest qualification criteria for me is "3 marathons in 3 months" I will try and run/shuffle the Seattle Marathon on Thanksgiving weekend and a Christmas Marathon in Olympia, WA. I'm hoping this schedule will help me keep off the halloween candy, Thanksgiving and Christmas pounds!

My first Sprint Tri is on Sep 30th...WooHoo!!! Then its training for the Southern California Carlsbad 1/2 Marathon (in January) I'm sure I'll do some 5Ks and 10Ks as well.

Those are some seriously impressive goals people!

I forgot to add my biggest goal for the fall - figure out the bike rollers my coach lent me. In the winter I couldn't do more than four pedal strokes without losing my balance. Any hints anyone?

Hmm, maybe "autumn" would have been a better word to use than "fall", less foreshadowing!

Try them in a hallway so you have a couple walls to bounce off of. ????? Visually it seems to work. HAHAHA

I moved furniture so I was wedged between the lazy boy and the wall, a space about 4" wider than my handle bars, so I didn't hit the floor. I did smack the wall a few times though!

There aren't any races, or clubs to join where I'm from...so for me it will be riding until the weather allows, which will be mid October, and then running alone in the cold and snow :( and getting back into the gym regularly. Haven't set foot in the gym since I started this triathlon nonsense in April, so it should be interesting!!

I'm seriously considering trying a 1/2 iron in June...so that means I will start up with the structured training in January. That will be interesting since all of the riding will have to be indoors for the most part of the training plan, but I'm looking forward to giving it a shot!

Talia -

Looks like you need to step up in your area and get a tri club underway. There must be a few other interested patries or friends.

Is this JC l.5 because you are losing weight?? Had to edit because I just read the reason why under race reports - Either reason is a great reason to go to l.5!!

Talia - which half are you thinking of doing? I decided I need a goal and signed up for Oliver last week. If that's the race you plan to do (be very cool to see you there), keep in mind that the 2007 race sold out in late September 2006.
