Ran the Disneyland 1/2 marathon yesterday. From a running viewpoint, the exciting thing was having a reverse split. 1:20 for the first half and 1:14:30 for the second. It was largely externally imposed as the course was tight enough at the start that there wasn't enough room to get into a rythmn. Of course, it probably did me a favor, preventing me going too fast at the start. We went through a couple of the disney parks and also ended in the California adventure Park, so that was fun. Great spectators and high school cheerleaders and bands along the way. The heaviest finishers medal I've ever gotten. Given that I was relatively undertrained and still beat my (really low reaching goal) thinking about training more and seeing what I can do with the remaining 3 half marathons of the year. If anyone is training for Newport Liberty 1/2 marathon, the Monterey Half marathon or the Philadelphia half marathon and wants a virtual training partner, let me know. |

Seema,
Great Job! I did the Green Bay 1/2 marathon in May and wish I was doing the Monterey 1/2. My brother lives in Monterey, about a 1/2 mile from the Rec trail that goes along the Bay for about 50 miles. I ran every morning when I visited him last summer. If I lived there I would be soooo skinny! Your time is right in line with what I did in Green Bay... I wish we lived closer together, we would be great running buddies! Oh well... such is life. We will just have to encourage each other long distance. Good luck with the rest of your races this year.
KEEP MOVING!!! |
