Over the past months I have been training for my first ever 1/2 marathon (a part of the White Rock Marathon) in Dallas. I had worked up to 11.5 miles. I injured my lower back and now for the 6 days have only run 1 mile with some pain. If the worse case happens and I am not able to run more until the race, how much lower should I expect the race to go. I had hoped to finish between 2.5 and 3 hours. I don't know if I should figure I will hit the wall after a mile or that I may have to walk some. It has been very discouraging.

Get yourself to your local pool and do your runs in the deep end. You will keep your running fitness level up but also work on your core strength without the stress on your back from impact. Give it a try. You will need a waste bouy.
