Just curious if there are many FJ'ers doing the marathon in Chicago in October?

My husband & I are considering it. I just did my first 1/2 on Sunday and really enjoyed it! Martin grew up in Chicago so he thinks it would be nice to run through the city. I'll let you know. |

FYI from their website:
Open registration for the 2008 Bank of America Chicago Marathon has closed. The event has reached its 45,000 participant capacity. Entry into the 2008 race can still be obtained through our official charity partners or affiliated international tour groups. |

Hi Ryan - yes I saw that notice on their website - I'm one of the lucky (some might argue that point eh?) 45,000....
Not doing it for charity this time - did NYC marathon in 06 for charity and feel bad in just stinging the same group of family, friends and colleagues for donations.
It looks a lovely flat city centre based course so yes - a great way to see the city. Wonder if we'll pass the ER hospital?! They always seem to be standing around in the cold outside mind you.....

Just checking in to say I did the Chicago marathon there last Sunday - back home in Dublin now.
Was a great day - hot mind you but very well organised and the most appreciative, fun, whooping n hollering crowd of supporters and volunteers I have ever come across....
If anyone on FJ is a Chicagian (spelling!?!) you should be very very proud of your city. A gang of 12 of my family and friends came over for the week and we all had a ball - thats a gang that included my 76yr old father,a serious marathon runner (sub 3 hours)and a few shoppers too!Oh to be back on Magnificant Mile once more.....
Gotta run - am signed up to do the Dublin marathon next Monday so have to test the legs later...! Am I mad or what?
