Well I completed my first half marathon in Baltimore on 10/13/07. I had a great time even though I didn't complete the event as fast as I would have liked.

My time was 2:13 my goal was 2 hours or less. My training runs had me on pace for 1:58. Not sure what happened or if it was just the whole first time event that got me off track. I had the same breakfast, snacks , water etc...that I did for my training runs.

The toughest part was a hill at the 6 mile mark. I think it was a steady climb for a little over a mile. It really made me push myself. The one challenge I know I had was figuring out what my pace was. I have markings for most of my training runs. During tha race I was passing people and being passed and caught up with everything going on around me I missed some mile markings. Oh well lesson learned for my next one.

Bob,

Your pace was tons faster than mine ever will be. Look into getting a Garmin (from cheapest to most expensive) 101, 201, 301, 205 or 305. Not only will it give you your pace at the time but give you all kind of stats from their training center. A couple of them even have heart rate monitors.

Congratulations on your run.

Big kudos Bob,

My Garmin is great (305) tons of data to let me know how slow I go... 8o)

I also saw that Polar recently came out with a GPS watch as well. I don't know about the functions of the Polar, but it appeared to be a smaller unit. My only complaint about the Garmin is the size.
