I just completed my first century yesterday. Everything went pretty well. The course was very hilly and the weather was hot and hhumid. Rode steady until the last 10 miles and I really started to fade. All things considered I was happy to finish in 5:49. Wanted 5:30 but not in THESE hills. Next week is a sprint tri, should be a cake walk after this, right?!
I have a new appreciation for Lee's attempt at the 200 miler in the mountains and heat.

Congats Todd!!! I still remember my first century and it's quite a feeling. I must admit one of the things I enjoy are the Monday morning conversations at work. You know - the "You did what!?" responses when people hear what you accomplished. Good luck the the tri. |

I had a conversation with my buddies father in-law, a self made man who made his fortune in the construction industry in town. Everywhere you go you see his name on the saw horses and construction vehicles. I casually told him of my bike ride after he asked me what I was up to. His reply? You rode a bike for 5 & 1/2 hrs. What the hell else did you get done that day!
From the mouth of an old school yankee!!!!!
