I bought my hybrid bike last spring and have put it to good use. Right now, I average anywhere from 30-50 miles a week, along with 2-3 weight training sessions a week. I'd like to talk with other amatuer cyclists out there.

I've been in one biathlon (3mile bike/15mile run) and one 50 mile tour, both this year. I absolutely loved the 50 mile tour. No pressure, lots of people, and beautiful scenery. A great after-tour lunch too of grilled chicken and corn on the cob. :)

Today was a nice fairly short ride 8.52miles, avg 12.7mph. Followed by a great 45minute circuit workout, alternated between a full upper/lower body weights session and mini cardio sessions of 4-7 minutes (alternated the stationary bike and ellyptical machine).

Hi Amy,

I have a road bike that I am in love with. I love the way it handles and how I feel like I am flying when I am on it. I consider myself an amature rider. My mileage varies from week to week and season to season, but I love being out there. I'd like to do a long ride like you've done. I am signed up for an Olympic distance tri in October. I've done it before, but finally feel like I have spent enough time on my bike to feel confident on the bike leg. Notice I said "confident" not "fast!"

I'm with Terri I am in LOVE with my road bike. I started out with a hybrid a few years ago and upgraded to a few bikes - mountain, cross and road. I am training for Tour de Tucson in November. Yesterday I biked 80 miles and averaged around 17 mph. The past year I have trained with stronger riders than myself - they'll make you stronger. Cycling is a great social sport. Check out RAGBRAI sometime. Its a week long ride across Iowa that draws people from all over the world. Last year we road with someone from New Zealand. I could go on and on about my love of cycling. Have you checked out any local teams or group rides? Its a great way to ignite the fire!!

Happy trails,

AJ
